Overview
Lissy is a prominent Indian actress who left an indelible mark on South Indian cinema, particularly during the golden era of Malayalam commercial film in the 1980s and early 1990s. Born on February 3, 1967, in Ernakulam, Kerala, she entered the film industry at the young age of 15, debuting in the 1982 film Ithiri Neram Othiri Karyam.
Known for her exceptional charm and impeccable comic timing, she quickly became a staple of commercial cinema, acting in over 100 films across Malayalam, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, and Hindi. Her career is celebrated for her frequent collaborations with legendary director Priyadarshan and superstar Mohanlal in landmark comedies and dramas like Boeing Boeing, Mazha Peyyunnu Maddalam Kottunnu, Thalavattam, and Chithram, as well as her appearance in the iconic investigative thriller Oru CBI Diary Kurippu.
At the peak of her career, she married director Priyadarshan in 1990 and chose to step away from the silver screen to focus on her family, adopting the name Lakshmi. The couple raised two children who are now active in the film industry: successful contemporary actress Kalyani Priyadarshan and VFX filmmaker Sidharth Priyadarshan. After a massive 27-year hiatus, she made a graceful return to acting with the 2018 Telugu film Chal Mohan Ranga, proving her enduring legacy and timeless connection to South Indian cinema.
